Jimmy

Assistant Manager

As Assistant General Manager at Area9 Mastery Diving Research Center, I bring a diverse background in adventure sports and diving. Born in Cali, Colombia, in 1974, my love for the outdoors started with sport climbing, mountain biking, and skydiving, which I pursued for 9 years after serving 4 years in the military. I also completed a business administration degree, which has supported my career in diving and leadership roles, helping me understand the balance between passion and professionalism.

In 2006, I transitioned to professional diving, earning my Divemaster certification by 2007. This opened opportunities across Colombia, including liveaboard operations in the Pacific and internships in Florida, where I found my passion for technical diving. By 2010, I became a Dive Instructor, and teaching quickly became a highlight of my career. In 2012, I moved to Bonaire to advance my diving journey, working in a resort’s technical diving program, where I earned certifications as a PADI Tec Diver and NAUI Tec Instructor.

A defining moment came in 2014 with the GUE Fundamentals Class, which brought my technical skills to a new level. In 2022, I joined Area9, excited to support a team committed to high standards and innovation. Today, my focus is on mentoring divers to refine their techniques and build confidence in underwater exploration.
