Mastery Learning Research

One of the primary purposes when Area9 Mastery Diving Research Center was established was to methodically research how mastery is accomplished in diving education. We use the Area9 Rhapsode Capable™ learning platform the most advanced personalized and adaptive learning platform across learning from lower school to specialist physicians and defense.

This system supports mastery-based education, using technology to enhance experience tracking, knowledge retention, and skill acquisition, guided by a team of top education researchers and the core R&D team for the platform from Area9 Lyceum. Ulrik’s main job is as CEO and chief architect for Area9 Lyceum. Our research focuses on optimizing human learning through the integration of technology, continually refining how divers train and retain knowledge.

GUE Adaptive Learning™

Area9’s adaptive platforms are the foundation for Global Underwater Explorer’s next generation learning platform - the GUE Adaptive Learning™ platform. Prototype products and technologies are extensively tested and refined by our staff, partners and clients.

(You might think that the disconnected inflator hose is a script error. But it is not. Elisabeth was one of the early prototype divers for the performance diver course. During one of the dive, her wing inflator was leaking gas into the wing during the entire dive. She just disconnected the hose underwater and finished the dive with the large group of younger divers - demonstrating the cognitive superiority that this kind of training can bring. Deep Candy Land

Exploration is at the heart of Area9’s mission, driving our commitment to uncover, document, and study Bonaire’s most remarkable and challenging dive sites. One standout site is Deep Candyland, located at an impressive depth of 105 meters (345 feet), offering advanced divers a unique and exhilarating experience.

Deep Candyland is a testament to the technical possibilities that await those ready to explore Bonaire’s depths.
Windjammer Wreck

The historic Windjammer wreck, resting at 62 meters (203 feet), is a striking example of the challenges and rewards of advanced technical diving. Known for its captivating structure and rich history, this site requires precision, specialized equipment, and a high level of expertise to explore safely. Together with Deep Candyland, these iconic locations represent Area9’s commitment to pushing the limits of underwater discovery.
